Update for Incoming First Year Students

Carlow College, St. Patrick’s is committed to looking after the health, well-being and academic development of all our incoming students. We know how important it is for you to have some clarity about what to expect in the next academic year.  Please remember that we may be required to change these plans in response to HSE and/or Government guidelines. We promise that we will communicate any changes to you as a matter of priority.

For Students entering First Year in September 2020 induction and orientation starts in the week of  beginning Monday 7 September.  This will be provided via a mix of in-College and online sessions. Teaching will start on the week beginning Monday 21 September.

Stage 1 students will have 70% of their classes in the College. For each BA Programme these classes will be held over two days. Students on the BA in Applied Social Studies (Professional Social Care) and  the BA (Honours) in Social, Political and Community programmes will be in College on Mondays and Tuesdays.  Students on the BA in Arts and Humanities, the BA (Honours) in Arts and Humanities and the BA (Honours) in English and History  will be in College on Wednesdays and Thursdays. These arrangements will allow for the potential reduced availability of public transport and simplify arrangements for students who may opt to commute from home.

We are hoping that we will be resuming normal in-College delivery of classes in Semester 2, however, this will be subject to HSE and or Government guidelines and requirements.
