Beginning a third level course can be a scary
experience and whether you are joining us from
Leaving Certificate, FETAC, or as a mature student, undertaking academic study is always a challenge!
At Carlow College we want all our students to
achieve their academic best, and Lisa Fortune
our Academic Resource Officer, is part of a
wider college team whose aim is to support and
guide you in your studies.
In year one all students undertake courses designed
to help develop the necessary academic, IT,
and information literacy skills needed for study at
third level. In addition, the Academic Resource
Officer runs a series of learning support sessions
during the year which are intended to help
students adapt to the demands of college, and to
plan and manage their studies.
Students with a disability / specific learning
need are encouraged to contact the Academic
Resource Officer for an educational needs
assessment to identify and plan academic
support needs.
Lisa Fortune is available Monday, Tuesday &
Thursday 9am – 5pm and can be contacted directly
on 059 9153231, or by email
at lfortune@carlowcollege.ie.
