Our Students' Union
The role of Carlow College Students’ Union is to represent the students of Carlow College both within the institution and externally on both local and national issues. The Carlow College Students' Union is housed in the Kathleen Brennan Student Resource Building. It is affiliated to U.S.I.
Union officers are elected by the student body and normally serve for one year.
Each year the Students' Union organises Welfare Day, Freshers’ Week, the Annual College Ball, Rag Week and many other activities which help promote a positive, dynamic atmosphere within the College for the benefit of all our students.
The Union is run by a full time President and three part time staff which comprise a Vice-President, Welfare Officer and a Clubs and Societies Officer. Each officer has their own specific role within the union as well as working together on wide ranging issues.
The Students' Union offer many services to the Carlow College student population, including:
-
Rent and financial advice
-
Sports and recreational clubs
-
Stationery shop
-
Photocopying and printing services
So far this year the Union has been extremely active, holding two different clubs and societies days, a welfare day as well as Students’ Union elections and a constitutional referendum.
Also a wide range of different clubs and societies have been established this year, many of which had previously never existed within the college.
