In first year, the emphasis is on observation of professional
care agency work. Your second year placement concentrates on developing
casework skills i.e. identifying and recording needs and responses
in social care settings. The B.A. year placement requires you to
design and carry out a piece of social care work in the context
of your placement.
You will receive preparation, support and back-up from the college
before, during, and after the placement. Each student is assigned
a professionally qualified supervisor to support and guide him
or her through the placement. Assessment is done through supervisors
reports, tutor visits and written projects.
Placements are not only valuable learning experiences for students,
they are vital to the training of Social Care personnel who often
have to deal with the most vulnerable members of our society.
