Student Counselling/Welfare Service

Like everyone else, students can and do occasionally run into
problems which they cannot always resolve for themselves.

Here in Carlow College the Counselling Service offers support to all students to

encourage them to develop an awareness and understanding of the benefits of positive health and well being and to learn how to take responsibility for this in their own lives.

Creating harmony and balance in one’s life is a simple but challenging process that can help us stay in control of our lives.

As human beings, we are a complex mixture of elements - physical,
emotional, mental, social and psychological. When one element
goes out of ‘sync’ e.g. an emotional upset, it can have a significant
impact on the whole person.

What is Counselling?

  • Counselling is primarily about listening
  • Encouraging students to tell their story
  • Helping gain insight to “oneself”
  • Finding new ways of looking for solutions

What kind of issues can be addressed by Counselling?

  • Adjusting to college
  • Family/Relationship problems

  • Time Management.

This is a professional and confidential, free service offered to all students in a safe, non-judgemental environment.
