FETAC Points Requirement

Applicants must have achieved a full FETAC level 5 or 6 award for entry to all the Carlow College courses. A full award may be accumulated over more than one academic year. In such cases, it is the responsibly of the applicant to apply to FETAC for a full award.


The total score for all modules in the Award is calculated from the above table and multiplied by a factor of 15. Points are calculated automatically and sent to the CAO (in the case of full awards). FETAC applicants compete with Leaving Certificate applicants in Round 1 for offers and are only assessed on the basis of their points score.

Awards at levels 5 and 6 are graded at Distinction, Merit of Pass. Scores are calculated on the grade awarded to the applicant and the credit value of the module according to the following table:
