The Vice President plays a crucial role in the day-to-day organisation of student life within the College. Essentially the Vice President is responsible for the running of the Union Office itself, meaning the Vice President is the one students will see in the Union Office most often. The Vice President is the first port of call for any student with a query and is responsible for scheduling meetings within the Students Union.

One of the main duties of the Vice President is to organise the Class Reps. At the start of the Academic Year, the Vice President goes from class to class informing the student body of the Class Reps role. Once the Class Reps are elected, the Vice President schedules and organises the Class Reps Council until a Head Class Rep is elected. The Vice President also acts in a supporting role to the President, providing assistance and perspective where required. The Vice President also facilitates the College magazine 'Paddy’s Spiel', assisting the Editors if so requested by them.

Hi guys, my name is Amanda Bowes. I am a mum of 4, a mature student and your returning Vice President for Education and Communications for the academic year 2016-2017. I am also a 3rd year BA (Hons) English and History student.

I am here to help you get the most out of your time here at Carlow College, St. Patrick's. College, at any age, can be a new and exciting opportunity as well as being a tad frightening and overwhelming. Please feel free to pop into the Students' Union for a chat or send me an email with any questions or concerns. Best of luck as you start or continue your journey here in Carlow College.
