New Social Stuidies Course!

From Autumn 2009 there will a new course on offer at Carlow College. The new degree, B.A (Honours) in Citizenship & Community Studies will explore theory and practice while broadening understanding of contemporary Ireland in a global context. The course also aims to develop key community work skills, prepare students for employment opportunities in a wide variety of community work contexts, offer flexible/modularised learning, study while working/volunteering and also challenge students to think for themselves. With this degree, graduates will have the qualifications,  skills and experience required for professional Community Work. For more information click here.

 

Part Time Courses  

Perhaps you want to spend your time in an interesting way...

Have you got time to spare during the day to spend an hour studying child psychology or creative writing or history or English literature? Think ahead!!

Carlow College, St. Patrick's offers an extensive range of courses to part-time students this year. Any of its day-time classes in the Humanities and in Social Studies can be attended by part-time students who want to take the classes out of interest or pleasure or to gain credits towards a degree under the ACCS scheme. The college offers a complete programme of introductory courses to new first year part-time students and advanced courses for cntinuing students. This flexible scheme allows part-time and mature students to study one or more subjects per year leading to full HETAC awards up to degree level. Among the many subjects available in the college are philosophy, theology, history, psychology, Irish, music, drama and performance studies, family studies, sociology, communications, legal studies. These courses give all students the opportunity to broaden their horizons, meet interesting class mates and listen, learn and dialogue with the college's high calibre lecturers, all of whom either hold or are finishing doctorates in their specialist subjects.
