Areas of Interest

Dr James Heaney is a lecturer in English and Irish Studies at Carlow College. He served as Academic Director of Humanities at the college from 2005-10. His areas of interest include European & World Drama, Modern Irish Writing, Comparative Literature, and Creative Writing. He has published articles on modern Irish and Spanish literature in a range of books and journals including the Bulletin of Spanish StudiesFaithful Companions: Collected Essays Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Kate O’Brien Weekend; the Irish University Review, New Voices in Irish Criticism, Studies–An Irish Quarterly Review; and POST: A Review of Poetry Studies. He has taught at the Mater Dei Institute of Education, N.U.I. Maynooth, and at T.C.D. Current projects include a book-length study on the subject of literature and revolution in modern Ireland and Spain in the period 1913-39.
