Chaplaincy at Carlow College is a service for students who wish to explore personal and spiritual development in an active and reflective way through involvement in community life within the College and outreach activities outside the College.
The College Chaplains, Sr Mary and Fr Conn invite you to offer your gifts and talents in whatever way you feel you can make a tangible contribution to serve the College community.
There are a number of ways in which you can participate:
- We welcome volunteers for our fund-raising activities which benefit charities both locally here in Carlow and abroad in the 3rd world.
- We are always interested in talking to students who would like to be involved in initiatives as diverse as the Gaisce Gold/Silver Awards, World Youth Day, the John Paul II Awards and many other issues of social and community relevance.
- For students who have an interest in deepening their knowledge of spirituality and liturgy, the Chaplaincy offers the possibility of being involved in some of the following activities:
Bible study, Theological reflection, Eucharistic adoration, Taizé prayer, Retreats, the Alpha programme, Rosary Group, Small Group Faith Sharing and training in Eucharistic Ministry. (A full list is available from the Chaplains’ Office on the Ground Floor).
Choir
We invite students with musical ability - singers and musicians - to lend us their talent to make a truly valuable contribution to events in the College throughout the year.
Prayer Room
The Prayer Room situated on the Ground Floor is open to all who want to spend time in thought, prayer or meditation at any time of the day.
It is a beautiful space and offers sanctuary to anyone seeking respite from the demands of daily life.
